Grandma Great

Eliza was born on Ben’s grandma’s 78th birthday. She was her very first great-granddaughter. Grandma Great had heart surgery a few weeks ago, and she found out on Wednesday that her replacement valve was leaking and she was too weak for more surgery. Her response was, “But I wanted to see Ellie get fat little elbows and ankles.”

Even though everyone assured her that of course she would get to see Eliza get chubby, Grandma died this morning.

When Liam woke up I told him that Grandma Great went to Heaven because she wanted to be with Grandpa Great. He said, “Hmm. I don’t think that’s a very good idea.”

Quite frankly, I don’t think it’s a very good idea either.

True Love

Yesterday was probably the best day of Eliza’s life so far. She smiled all day long, and hardly cried at all. Then she slept from 10:00 last night until 5:30 this morning, which is her longest stretch yet. I’ve been trying to figure out what we did differently to make her so happy yesterday, and the only thing I can come up with is that yesterday she met Baby Oscar.

Colic Is So Much Cuter On a Girl

Isn't there a saying that goes, "First baby has colic, shame on him. Second baby has colic, shame on me"? Eliza was diagnosed with colic a few weeks ago, and when I called the doctor's office to ask what was wrong with her, all I said was that she acts like it hurts to eat, especially in the evening. I never said anything about her screaming all the time or being Liam's little sister. And they still called it colic.

Now I'm wondering if it's something I'm doing wrong. I tried the Eliminate Dairy, Chocolate, and Spicy Food Diet with Liam, but it never helped him. So I won't be trying that one again, thanks. I put white noise in Eliza's room and made her a cute little heating pad for her tummy, plus I've tried massage and lifting her legs.

Anyone have any other ideas?
